Mandaee Bazaar

2010   Public site-specific video installation   45 ft. x 9 ft.
Collaboration with Ariel Nasr

For this project I collaborated with Ariel Nasr, an Afghan-Canadian filmmaker and friend, born in Halifax and currently based in Kabul, Afghanistan to create a large scale projection/installation in Halifax.

We grafted video of a bustling market square in Kabul (one-to-one scale) onto the windows of a now defunct business site in downtown Halifax for a period of two weeks.  For the casual individual walking or driving past at night, it appeared as if they were looking through a portal into the crowded and dusty streets of Kabul, Afghanistan.

The video footage was on a ten minute loop.
